TPRS is changing the way many teachers go about teaching a foreign language today. Through TPRS teachers are finding they can teach the language holistically without having to teach grammar rules. Grammatical accuracy is taught but not in the traditional way through verb conjugations. Language is learned by understanding messages in the target language. That means language is picked up through comprehensible input. Input is listening and reading that is understood by the learner. They ensure the class is totally comprehensible. Also it must be repetitive and interesting. They teach the class an interesting story that is invented as the teacher asks students repetitive questions. ELL teachers are also discovering the impact of TPRS as well. Come to this one day workshop with Blaine Ray himself and you will learn tricks on making your class interesting as well as how to teach accuracy to your students.

TPR Storytelling® was created by Blaine Ray in the 1990's With TPRS you can use your existing text. There is no need to spend money investing in new materials. You can learn the steps and use TPRS right away. We do need at least 25 participants, or we will not be able to provide this. Sign up soon!  Contact April Spencer at aspencer@wresa.org or 828.418.0011, ext. 20 for more information.

“Based on cutting-edge research and more than 10 years of application in hundreds of classrooms, 7 Keys to Comprehension demystifies reading and gives practical advice about how you can help any child understand and love reading. This important book reveals why basic things like reading to a child and sharing your thoughts about what you read, create the foundation needed to develop an avid reader. It’s so simple: Talk, read, and share your thoughts with a child and you’ll have a reader for life.” In this online class we will study the book: 7 Keys to Comprehension: How to Help Your Kids Read It and Get It! by Susan Zimmermann and Chryse Hutchins. “This is the bible for teachers and parents – there can be no book more important to future generations than 7 Keys to Comprehension” (Clive Cussler). Participants must purchase their own book, available at Amazon.com: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0761515496/qid=1054611178/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/002-5878671-4487261?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 for $10.17.   Once the course is completed, participants will be awarded 10 contact hours for 1 CEU.
