Lucy Calkins, Ph.D. is the author of Units of Study for Primary Writing and Units of Study for Teaching Writing, Grades 3–5, The Art of Teaching Writing, One to One, The Art of Teaching Reading, and the DVD Big Lessons from Small Writers. She is the Founding Director of the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University's Teachers College. Lucy Calkins and her colleagues have helped hundreds of thousands of teachers become experts in the teaching of writing. At this two-day training, Lucy Calkins, Mary Ehrenworth and Laurie Pessah will demonstrate time-tested teaching practices to help you teach writing to your students. Mary Ehrenworth,  Deputy Director for Middle School, is the author of Looking to Write and co-author of The Power of Grammar and is currently working on another publication on Testing Realities--teachers and students preparing for exams. Laurie Pessah is the Executive Officer for Literacy & Research Development with the NYC Department of Education.
