FREE copies of Project 2061's Atlas of Science Literacy

With funding from the National Science Foundation, AAAS Project 2061 is offering a free training workshop designed to help you make better use of the Science Literacy Maps, an online concept browsing interface provided by the National Science Digital Library (NSDL). Not only do the Maps provide easy access to a wide array of education resources for teaching K-12 science, they also offer insights that can help you see how your students are likely to make progress--or have problems--in their learning from grade to grade, how to help them understand relationships among important ideas, and how to keep the "big picture" of science learning in mind as you select and use the NSDL resources.

The workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with free lunch and free copies of Project 2061's Atlas of Science Literacy provided to all participants. It will be held on January 23rd at WRESA. In case of inclement weather, the workshop will be held on the backup date, January 30th.

The workshop will cover K-12 learning progressions, the various elements and features of the online maps, criteria for judging the quality of online resources, and Project 2061's online collection of assessment items that can be used to test for student understanding of key ideas in science. The workshop will benefit K-12 educators in general, and curriculum coordinators in particular.
