Cite examples of evidence from your written commentary and videotape that address each of the following questions.

1) What is the evidence of your ability to plan a thoughtful sequence of learning experiences that

• fosters development of clearly delineated scientific concepts, and
• employs the inquiry process as an integral part of the activities?

2) What evidence suggests that the individual experiences

• are directly relevant to the science concepts,
• tap children’s natural curiosity and interests,
• allow for some control of the activity by the children?

3) What evidence indicates that the learning experiences are designed to help children discover scientific principles for themselves?

4) What evidence exists to show that you help the children understand the relevance of the featured activities to the concepts being addressed?

5) What evidence indicates that the children are

• deeply engaged intellectually as they actively participate in scientific inquiry, and
• encouraged to pose questions and to formulate and discuss ideas?

6) What evidence reveals that you challenge children’s thinking while interacting with them?

7) What evidence verifies that the children engage in scientific inquiry as they work with other children and/or as they engage in independent activities?

8) What evidence indicates your ability to

• reflect on children’s learning,
• examine your own role in fostering engagement and learning, and
• identify areas that need improvement
