UNC
“An Interdisciplinary Graduate
Degree”
If you’re a specialist in Social Studies, Language Arts or English at the Elementary, Middle or High School level, and if you want a flexible, content-intensive, build-your-own program, then the Master of Liberal Arts may be for you. The MLA Program can transform your passion for teaching into an advanced degree.
MLA is an interdisciplinary, part-time course of study for individuals who are interested in broad-based learning at the master’s degree level. Our evening seminars allow new teachers, mid-career professionals, and senior faculty the opportunity to grow intellectually within a community of lifelong learners. Unlike the more traditional M.Ed., with its emphasis on pedagogy and learning theory, the MLA allows students to shape their degree in a manner that complements their instructional approach and area of expertise.
Special Features of the Program include:
The Master of Liberal Arts is now recognized by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction for the Master’s-level salary step.
Accepting students now for next semester.
