Request:

We wish to purchase switching and routing equipment at this time for the WNCEDNET network.  

Background:

WNCEDNET is building a fiber optic network for the schools located in the six counties of Jackson, Macon, Swain, Cherokee, Clay, and Graham.   This network includes the charter schools and the tribal schools on the Cherokee Indian Reservation.

Deadline for response:

In order to be considered proposals must be received by 7/21/2007 midnight.  Proposals may be submitted via email or fax to Leonard Winchester.

Format:

The proposals are to be submitted using a Microsoft Office or compatible product.  Other formats may be acceptable on advance approval.

Equipment list:

Quantities and capabilities of the equipment actually purchased may vary from the sample list provided.  Vendors should anticipate upgrade options, higher level performance,  and compatibility concerns and provide a variety of selections. 

 (Cisco model numbers are used in lieu of specifications.  Non-Cisco offerings will be considered that are functionally equivalent or superior).

An additional offering of a core switch with greater than 12 fiber ports is requested.

A provision of connecting  the edge switches to the core switch at 1Gb is requested.

An additional offering of a core switch with 10/100/1000 (12)(24)(48) ethernet ports that will backplane with the 3750 core switch is requested.
